What is the GDC?

The dental team at Beech House adhere to the GDC’s Standards for dental professionals.

Dentist

Neil Sands

Neil is a Partner at Beech House and provides an Endodontic (root canal treatment) referral service for local dentists. Neil graduated from the University of Bristol in 2004, completing his Foundation training year in the Lake District. He returned to Eastbourne and joined Beech House in 2008. Neil has completed a 3 year Master of Science in Endodontics at Kings College London, graduating with Distinction. His dissertation was on the use of hydraulic sealers, a novel group of very biocompatible dental materials. Neil has used a Surgical Operating Microscope for many years now. This is invaluable for Endodontics for both magnification and co axial illumination within the root canal system.
Neil is a member of the British Endodontic Society and is unable to take on any new routine patients due to his Endodontic referral service.

Sophie Buzzard

Sophie is one of the Partners of the practice. She qualified at Bristol University and then started work in East Sussex, receiving training from Beech House with Mr Kettle, a previous Partner of the practice. She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow after passing her admission assessments. She has worked in Hastings, Eastbourne and Brighton Hospitals as an Oral and Maxillofacial Doctor and also in the Special Care Dental Service. This has provided her with a high level of experience in Oral Surgery. Since graduating Sophie has completed a Master of Science in Primary Dental Care, graduating with Distinction. She is also undertaking a Diploma with the Royal College of Surgeons and the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners in Dental Implantology.

John Matejka

Qualified at the Universtity of the Witwaterrand, Johannesburg in 1985. After completing two years of national service he was awarded a postgraduate research scholarship by the Medical Research Council of South Africa and following a period in dental research and teaching (37 publications in scientific journals) he returned to full time clinical dentistry. In 2000 he and his family moved to the UK and joined Beech House in Eastbourne in 2003. Outside of dentistry, John enjoys keeping up to date with the ebbs and flows of professional rugby and cricket. He is also a keen artist. He is currently taking on new patients.

Anastasia Khomin

Ana studied at Bristol University and then spent her foundation year in Eastbourne, at Beech House Dental Practice.
Ana has a very calming chair side manner and provides treatment in 'Invisalign' braces. These are clear aligners that straighten teeth. Whilst she is passionate about dentistry, she has a number of outside interests, including painting and visiting exhibitions.
Ana is working at Beech House 4 days a week. Ana is currently taking on new private patients.

Vicki Groves

Vicki went to school in Eastbourne and qualified from Cardiff University in 2019 and spent her foundation training year at a practice in South Wales. She enjoys treating anxious patients and is good at making patients feel at ease during treatment. She is currently training to be able to provide Invisalign treatment to patients.

Vicki lives in Eastbourne and in her spare time volunteers weekly with Age UK and enjoys cooking, reading and watching live music.

Periodontist

Natalie Woodlock

Natalie Woodlock is a registered Specialist Periodontist and an expert in her field. Natalie specialises in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease. She is qualified with a Master of Science in Periodontology, and went on to gain further expertise in the subject achieving the Master of Clinical Dentistry in Periodontics and the Membership in Restorative Dentistry to become a Specialist in Periodontics. She works on a Tuesday.

Hygienist

Jasmine Hughes-Davies

Jasmine has been working at Beech House as a Dental Nurse since 2015 and has now completed her Degree in Hygiene from Portsmouth University.

Charlotte Johnson

Charlotte qualified in 2017 with a Foundation Degree in Oral Health Science from the University of Essex. Charlotte is local to Eastbourne and works all day on a Thursday at the Practice. Charlotte takes pride in her professionalism and has an excellent rapport with her patients. She enjoys the cosmetic side of hygiene and can also offer tooth whitening services.

Wioleta Szostak

Wioleta qualified as a hygienist in Poland in 2005 and joined the practice in 2009. She is very enthusiastic when it comes to patient’s oral health and encourages patients with all aspects of dental hygiene. She continues to achieve fantastic results with both her clinical skill and motivational oral hygiene instruction.

Dental Nurse

Megan Carter

Megan is our newest member of staff who is assisting Ana Khomin. Megan used to work as a nurse for the local community and decided to specialise in dentistry.
When Megan is not working she enjoys travelling and learning new languages such as Japanese.

Kaz Nevin

Joined the practice in 1998 and now assists John Matejka. Kaz is our Senior Dental Nurse and Cross Infection Control supervisor. When she is not making sure that everyone in the practice is following the latest ‘best practice’ guidelines in relation to cross infection, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and getting away in her campervan!

Deirdre Bainbridge

Deirdre has a wealth of nursing experience. She has worked alongside an Endodontist in America before joining Beech House in 2005. Deirdre enjoys working with Neil Sands, our Endodontist, and when not in the surgery she is in charge of the stock throughout the practice. Outside of work, Deirdre is a keen gardener.

Jo Perrott

For many years, Jo helped us on a regular basis as a locum nurse and joined us on a permanent basis in 2013. She is very adaptable and assists Anastasia Khomin. Her calm approach to her work ensures that her patients are always at ease in the surgery. When away from the practice Jo is an excellent gardener and also loves travelling all around Britain, searching ‘follies’ wherever she goes!

Beth Baldock

Beth joined Beech House as a trainee nurse. She passed her nursing exams to become a fully qualified dental nurse in 2019. She is a very popular member of the team. Beth who usually works with Sophie Buzzard and Vicki Groves, enjoys swimming and water sports, as well as quad biking, paintballing and standup paddle boarding. She recently completed a 26 mile walk of the South Downs in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support.

Charlotte Edge

Charlotte joined the practice in November 2019 and is training for her qualification in Dental Nursing. She is currently assisting Neil Sands. Charlotte splits her week at the practice and studying online for her NEBDN qualification, which is a little bit different during these Covid times, with online viva's and exams!

Practice Manager & Receptionists

Rebecca Nicholas

Rebecca joined the practice in 2010 originally as a qualified dental nurse and decided after 10 years of nursing to move to the administrative side of dentistry. After taking exams in Leadership and Management Rebecca became Practice Manager at Beech House. Rebecca enjoys the challenge of organising a large team

Jessica Hare

Jessica joined the practice in 2005 where she qualified in 2007 gaining an NVQ in Oral Health Care. Jessica is the assistant manager and is enjoying her new role. She still helps out with nursing when needed. She has two young children who keep her busy when not working hard at Beech House.

Lesley Harwood

After qualifying as a dental nurse in 1978 Lesley worked in London at Guys and Kings College Hospitals as well as working with disabled children for Lambeth and Lewisham Area health Authority. She joined Beech House in 1998 assisting the recently retired John Maloney. Lesley is now enjoying working on the reception desk and occasionally in the surgery. When not at Beech House she can often be found enjoying her hobby of belly dancing!
